FAQs

As a Care Access Team, we’re here to talk with you about your care options and other community resources to help you or a loved one. We’re here to make this easier for you—not by giving you a list of places to call, but by reaching out to providers with you to figure out the next step.

When you’re unsure where to begin, our Care Access Team is a welcoming place to start without judgment. Whether you’re looking for mental health care, substance use support, or help with everyday needs, we’re here to help.

We’re open Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm. When we connect with you, we’d like to ask a few questions such as:

  • What part of Colorado you live in and where you’d like to get care.
  • Whether you want us to explore your options together, or on your own.
  • What matters to you or your loved one, as we search for the right care.

These questions help us better understand your situation. You choose what to share with us and we will always respect your privacy.

Together, we’ll make a plan starting with what is most important for you. Depending on your situation, we may take some time to research the options that are the best fit for you. We’ll then follow up with you to talk through the options and answer any other questions you have.

Every request for help matters to our Care Access Team, and we look forward to connecting with you. Our team works Monday through Friday, 8-5. We’ll connect with you within the week via phone or email, based on your preference.

We understand that finding the right care can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to do it alone. We’re here to help connect you with options that support your mental health, recovery, and well-being.

Depending on your needs, we can help connect you with services such as:

  • Recovery living – Safe, supportive places to live while working on your recovery
  • Peer support – People who’ve been through similar experiences and are here to walk alongside you
  • Crisis services – Immediate support if you’re feeling overwhelmed, panicked, having thoughts of suicide, or just need urgent help
  • Withdrawal Management –A safe, monitored environment to help you through the effects of stopping or reducing substance use.
  • Residential treatment – Staying overnight for a period of time for longer term support with mental health, substance use disorder, or both. This is different from inpatient care which focuses on short term stabilizing and safety
  • Partial hospitalization program – Treatment services during the day (20+ hours per week) without staying overnight, including therapy in a group setting. Higher level of care compared to what you get at a doctor’s or therapist’s office
  • Intensive outpatient program – An in-between option: less than partial hospitalization, but more than weekly therapy. Get care 9+ hours per week with therapy in a group setting, without staying overnight
  • Intensive in-home therapy – Frequent, flexible support in your home or community instead of a therapy office. A team-based service that can involve family or other important people in your life
  • Outpatient services – Care you can access at a doctor’s or therapy office, on the phone or computer with a professional, or at a community mental health center. It could be individual or group therapy, family counseling, seeing a provider for medications, and more
  • Assessment – A provider who does a full review of a person’s history and situation, to figure out what mental health conditions they may have, and options for care

We will talk to you about what resources might help. We can connect you with options like:

  • Housing and utility resources – Help applying for affordable housing if available, or utility discount programs
  • Transportation options – Support getting to appointments, work, or other important places
  • Food assistance – Programs that help you or loved ones get nutritious meals, or help with the cost of food
  • Childcare resources – Organizations near you who help with affordable childcare services
  • Medical care – Connections to affordable clinics, prescription programs, and other services. We can also connect you to affordable insurance options, including help applying for them

If your situation is more complex, we can also connect you with a Care Coordinator. They’ll help you manage appointments, providers, and services — so you don’t have to juggle it all on your own.

Yes — absolutely. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out to us. It’s okay to not know what you need right now.

When you connect with us, we’ll take the time to talk with you about what’s going on in your life. Together, we’ll explore what kind of support might be helpful. That could mean connecting you with a provider who will listen, help you sort through your options, and work with you to figure out what makes the most sense for you.

We’re here to support you. We have staff who speak Spanish, but we can also work with professional interpreters to help make communication easier.

If it’s more comfortable for you, feel free to fill out a contact form and let us know what language you prefer. We’ll do our best to meet your needs when we reach out.

Yes! Whether it’s your first time reaching out or you’ve called before, we’re here to help. Your needs may change over time, and we’re here to help guide you towards additional resources and care.

Absolutely. There is no wrong door for support. If you have Medicaid, we will connect you with your regional organization who can help.

Not sure who or what that is? No problem, we will get you to the right place. We won’t just give you their phone number and expect you to call on your own. We can call them and talk to them with you.

We know how frustrating it can be to make call after call and still not find the help you need. Our Care Access Team is here to make that process easier. We’re trained to listen, ask the right questions, and help connect you to services that might be a good fit—especially ones that are covered by insurance or other funding options.

For example, if you’re looking for mental health care for a child who doesn’t qualify for Medicaid, we might be able to connect you with a program that helps cover those child mental health care costs. That’s just one of many resources we can explore together.

We can’t promise we’ll have every answer, but we can promise to take the time to understand your situation and do our best to point you in the right direction.

Yes. What you tell us stays within our team. The only time we’d need to share something is if we’re seriously concerned about your safety or someone else’s—then we might contact emergency services to help keep everyone safe.

We may record calls for training and quality purposes, but those recordings are kept secure and never shared outside our organization.

If you’re unsure about how your information is handled or when we might need to act for safety, just ask. We’re happy to walk you through it.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. It connects you with trained crisis counselors who can provide immediate support if you’re feeling overwhelmed, panicked, having thoughts of suicide, or just need urgent help.

Signal’s Care Access Team is different. We’re here during regular hours (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) to help you find and connect with ongoing services. Our team can answer questions, explain options, and guide you to the next step in care.

If you call Signal and you’re in crisis, we’ll stay on the line with you and make sure you’re connected to 988 right away — so you get the right support at the right time.

You can always call and leave us a voicemail. We’ll return your call the next day we’re open. Our voicemail is secure and confidential, so you can share what support you need if you feel comfortable.

Or, if you prefer, you can also fill out our online Care Access form or send us an email — whatever feels easiest for you.”

Sometimes it can be challenging to help a family member or friend navigate their care, because of healthcare rules that stop you from talking to providers. Yes. There may be affordable care available to you for mental health and substance use, even without insurance. We can talk about your needs, and what care is available for you.
