Advisory Council

Partnering with people with lived experience to inform & work towards system change together

Signal respects and values the lived experience of the communities we serve. We created an Advisory Council in partnership with a lived experience facilitator to inform and work towards system change, together. The council consists of members across our BHASO regions with diverse backgrounds who have experience with mental health, substance use, physical disability, and family advocacy. Signal’s Advisory Council members provide valuable insights on service gaps, regional disparities, access barriers, and recommendations for system change.

Our Work on the Advisory Council

Gather Together

People with lived experience of mental health or substance use in a way that is respectful of their time and life experience, and accessible to them, alongside administrators to form a council together

Share Experiences & Inform System Change

Facilitator plans substantial time on the agenda for members to share their varied lived experiences in ways that are accessible to them. We will also have group brainstorming and discussion.

Document Feedback in Innovative Process

All the feedback the council offers (in a way that is accessible to each council member) is reviewed in a qualitative analysis process for themes, trends, and categories. Then it is documented internally in a searchable, categorized format for Signal staff to access.

Take Action Together on Priorities for System Change

Based on council discussion and our innovative process for documenting feedback, we identify themes and trends from the Advisory Council that are top priorities. We also look at timely opportunities for high impact system change, and collectively work together to target that systems change.

Signal is committed to listening and respecting the lived experience of our Advisory Council members as they offer feedback on what’s working and what isn’t in their communities. Our council facilitation process includes an innovative process for documenting feedback from our council members. We do this to ensure their feedback connects back to our staff to inform the work they do supporting Coloradans across our BHASO regions. We also actively work to make our council meetings inclusive and accessible, including addressing support needs as appropriate, to ensure we hear from a range of voices.

Signal’s Advisory Council is not expanding at this moment, but we encourage you to fill out our form using the link below and we will notify you when we have room for new council members.
