The Colorado Department of Human Services was awarded $7.8M over the next two years as part of the State’s Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis (STR Grant). The funding is provided through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP).The grant funding is intended to support the following:

  • Increase access to treatment (medication-assisted treatment as well as residential services)
  • Purchase and distribute Naloxone kits
  • Enhance the crisis support line
  • Utilize a prevention and treatment strategy to provide support services for families
  • Peer recovery services
  • Provide Buprenorphine trainings for the medical community
  • ED pilot study for Buprenorphine induction
  • Day-of-release resources for individuals with an opiate use disorder leaving incarceration
  • A mobile app for finding treatment resources and providing crisis support
